See, Martin Scorsese has a valid point, but it’s also not hard to see how Marvel Studios conjured up a myth worth investing mental and emotional resources to.
And that’s why I have doubts that the fundamental problems DCEU Justice League has will be easily fixed in one cut, even if I know that Zack Snyder is capable of making a fairly good movie and that his vision works well here.
Still, I do want to see the Snyder Cut, because if nothing else, it will give what these characters are due . They’ll never be as sturdily-developed as MCU’s characters (mostly — Wonder Woman’s already A-OK in terms of her writing ), but it’s a better start for the rest of the team. I implore MCU fans to watch this, even if they don’t like the DCEU, not just to pick it apart but to see whether the creative talent actually had a sure shot at doing in fewer films what Marvel did in many.

Warner clearly learned all the wrong lessons from Marvel’s success. Such a rushed, shoddy effort to try to duplicate it.
I do wish I had a way to watch the Snyder cut, but I don’t hold any optimism that it’ll be a game changer.

You’ll have a way to watch The Sny der Cut — just sign up for the HBO Max free trial when it releases.

Burn the trial only when the cut is complete, though — HBO will cut the whole thing into four parts.

I didn’t realize it would be available to non-HBO subscribers. Thanks.

Zack Snyder WILL fix Justice League. It’s not his job to fix the DCEU, nor should it have ever been his responsibility to start it even though he laid out his path quite well. Warner Bros.’ was (and still is) too impatient and too greedy to world build properly. The JL we got was ~75% Whedon’s edits and reshoots, but Snyder’s name was still credited due to DGA rules with what was initially filmed.
To be fair, Snyder’s biggest flaw is not being able to meet a studio’s demand to fit his films into a set runtime. They want ~150 minutes max. He needs 180-210 minutes to tell his story properly. After Snyder’s daughter passed, the studio panicked and needed something to release to recoup the production costs. So they went with a 120 minutes runtime to increase the number of daily showings but instead released a bastard that was DOA.
Oddly enough, The Snyder Cut will be the length of 2 films — a JL1 and JL2, if you will, and exactly what the studio didn’t want after they botched the BvS theatrical release.
Maybe they have finally learned to leave him alone -- nah, whom am I kidding!
